Our mission is simple: help you find the best local service professionals through independent, transparent research. No vendor can pay for a higher ranking.

Our Scoring System

Every vendor is evaluated using a weighted composite score drawn from publicly available data. Here's exactly how we weight each factor:

Google Rating

Highest weight because Google has the largest review base and strictest fraud detection of any platform.

Yelp Rating

Yelp's recommendation filter removes suspicious reviews, making surviving ratings highly reliable.

BBB Rating

BBB tracks complaint resolution, not just satisfaction — a signal other platforms miss.

Review Volume

More reviews mean more statistical confidence. Log-scaled so 500 reviews doesn't overwhelm 200.

Years in Business

Longevity signals stability. Companies that survive 10+ years have proven they retain customers.

License & Insurance

Verified licensing protects homeowners. Unlicensed work voids warranties and creates liability.

A tiebreaker, not a driver. Fast response matters for emergencies but less for planned work.

Data Sources

We collect data from three primary sources, all accessed through their official APIs in compliance with their terms of service:

    Yelp Fusion API — Ratings, review counts, and business categories
  • 3.
    BBB — Accreditation status, rating, and complaint history

Editorial Policy

All editorial reviews on SiftPros are original content. Our review summaries are AI-generated editorial analyses of publicly available review sentiment — not scraped or copied text from any platform. Every review is fact-checked by our editorial team before publication.

We do not accept payment for reviews or rankings. If a vendor sponsors content in the future, it will always be clearly labeled. Our rankings are updated monthly or whenever significant new data becomes available.
